Twist of Faith Challenge "Ties That Bind"

Hey everybody,

Wishing all the Moms a very Happy Mother's day!  Hope you got lots of hugs and kisses from all your loved ones this past weekend.

Ties That Bind

This week we are sponsored by Meljen's Designs, who will be offering 4 images to our lucky winner.  To play along, we want you to use some twine in your creation and included a scripture, uplifting verse, or positive quote/words.

I had a hard time getting my mojo in gear this week, and nearly ran out of time on this one.  Although it didn't turn out like I had originally planned, I "think" I'm happy with it...hmmm still thinking on it.

I didn't do much coloring on this one, but what coloring I did do I used my Promarkers.  I attempted a little 3-D effect, and wrapped the twine around the spool and followed the already given sentiment.  The flowers, ribbons, beads, ric rac and lace (gathered for a ruffle effect) all came from my stash, and the paper was purchased at a thrift store.  I did use a new Martha Steward Butterfly Punch I got at a Michael's sale.

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day and stopping by, and I hope you'll come join us this week.

Summer Swing

Hey Everybody,

Hope everyone had a super duper great weekend.  I got to spend some time with my older and younger brother (a rare occasion when they are both here), and I managed to whack my foot with a hay rake...lol, and now it hurts.  Ah but it is too far from my heart to be concerned, just something I can laugh about when it stops hurting.

Ok, so on to my card.  I've had this way to adorable image called "Summer Swing Time" (by Di's Digi Stamps), for quite some time and why I haven't used it before now is beyond me, because, I just totally love ALL her creations.  They are having a "anything but square" challenge, and so I was off and creating.  As usual, I've colored it with my Pro Markers.

Other mediums used:

Paper: Floral print and green from Michaels sale rack, and gimp from my good friend Tona.
Bow: Made from ribbon from my stash
Punches: (print) Baby's Breath by Easy Cut Multi Punch, and the white I used some scalloped scissors I got at a moving sale.
Flowers & Stems:  Most from my stash, but the two blue flowers were white and I took them apart and colored them go with the other colors.
Pearls: Stash

I would also like to mention that this card was inspired by Lyndsey Marie Designs.  Not only are her creations stunning, she has tutorials and lots of other things to share.  So, do yourself a favor and stop by her blog.

Thank you so very much for taking the time out of your day, and stopping by.

Sketch Challenge at Twist of Faith

Hey everyone,

It's been a real crazy week for me, so I apologize for not making my way around to visit everyone.   Not to make excuses, but I worked lots of hours, and then at the end of the week hurt my back, and was in bed all day Sunday.  Anyway, all is better now and I promise to get by and visit you.

This week at Twist of Faith we are having a sketch challenge, which (believe it or not) I've never done before.  It was more of a challenge than I thought it would be, and for that reason I kept things simple.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps, and the winner gets a cool 7 stamps of your choice!

I got to use their adorable stamp called "Best Friends" that I colored with my ProMarkers.

Other mediums used
Paper: Stash
Fabric: Stash
Heart: Thrift store find
Flower embellies:  From my friend Tona
Sentiment:  Made in Paint Shop Pro

Thanks for taking the time out of your day and stopping by, and I hope you'll come join us in this fun challenge.

Birthdays with Twist of Faith

Hey Everybody,

It's a "Birthday" challenge this week at "Twist of Faith".  Our sponsor is Beccy's Place, and the winner of this challenge will receive three digital stamps.  Beccy has some really adorable stamps, so I hope you'll join in the chance to win.

The stamp I chose is called "Old Mailbox", and of course I've colored it with my Pro Markers.  I can't remember where I seen the "Magic card" the first time, but I thought this challenge would be the perfect opportunity to give it a go.  You can find the tutorial I watched on youtube here, and learn more about the origin of the design.  I also did some paper piercing, and used a pair of pattern scissors around the edges.

Other mediums used:
Papers, leaves & brads:  A gift from my good friend Tona
Roses: Made from my stash paper (rose bud tutorial here) Note: I did not have to use a punch to cute out the rose petals for the small or large roses.
Swirls, beads, envelope, and corner borders: Made with scraps from my stash.
Distress Ink: Brown by Rangers
Sentiment: Made in Paint Shop Pro

Thank you for taking the time out of your day and stopping by.

Blessings To You

Hey everybody,

It's time for another challenge at Twist of Faith, and this time around our challenge is to create a shaped card (something other than square or rectangle).  This definitely was a challenge for me, because I needed to do something that didn't require dies to make the shape.  Luckily I found inspiration at Maria's Studio, and you can see the project she made that inspired my card.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Digi Darla Designs, and I chose this adorable stamp titled "Flower Girl" that I colored with my Pro Markers.  The winner of this challenge will get "5" stamps of their choice, so I hope you'll join in the chance to win.

My good friend Tona loaned me her Martha Stewart 4 petal punch, so that I could cut out all these little flowers - Thank you Tona!

Other mediums used:

Papers: Floral is made by Martha Steward Crafts that I got on sale at Michaels, and the solid colors are from my stash.

The darkest colors are a lot lighter than they appear in my photo.  I just wasn't able to get them lighter without changing all the other colors.

Ribbon: from my good friend Tona (bless you girl!)
Pearls: Pearl Stickers from Michaels
Swirls: Beading Wire from Walmart, and the paper swirls made with my sizzix dies.
Butterfly and leaves: butterfly and larger leaves were cut out by hand, and the smaller leaves, again my friend Tona cut some for me with her spellbinder's dies.
Border and scallop: border - made with my Martha Stewart border Punch, scallop - I just used an off brand scallop pair of scissors.

Thanks for taking the time out of your day and stopping by.

That's A Wrap

Hey Everybody,

Hope everyone is having a great week, and enjoying the Spring weather.  It's already making its way to the 80s here in Florida.

I've had this adorable image from "Mayzy Art" for awhile now, just couldn't figure out what kind of card I wanted to make with it.  It's called California Roll, and I just love her.  The image reminds me of those favorite "fits just right" jeans, that you wear until the color is nearly gone and you need patches in various areas.

I have to tell you a little story about her shoes.  These type of heals were popular when I was just starting junior high, and like all the other girls I just had to have a pair.  Mine were white with black buckles and heals.  At the time I wore a size 8 shoe.  However, my legs looked like ropes with knots in them, which made my size 8 look more like a size 10.  Mom had made me this cute skirt with little flowers that I wore with a sleeveless top.  I just knew I looked real good in my new shoes and outfit.  Apparently my older brother did not, because as I was heading out the door I could hear him laughing and telling mom, "She looks like Minnie Mouse". . . lol  Don'tcha just love brothers?  I'm sure I didn't think it was too funny back then, but I can laugh about it now.  Especially since I know I got him back in some devious way.

Okay, back to making the card.

I love trying new things, and with this one I played around with quilling.  There's some really incredible art made with quilling, and I can't wait to learn how to do more.  I made the little "Sushi" embellishment out of some toothpicks and (as you can see) with some of the quilling.

Other mediums used:

Ribbon: Walmart
Quilling: Hobby Lobby
Pearls:  Micheals Pearl Stickers
Papers:  White and small green on tag from my stash, large checks and solid green from Martha Stewart Essentials Paper Pad, and the small checks from assorted paper given to me as a gift.  Thank you Tona!
Sentiment: Made in Paint Shop Pro
