Like A Child

Good Morning Everybody!  I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving, and enjoying the last of the weekend.  It's been a really busy week for me, as we had two families to celebrate Thanksgiving with.  In addition, I've just been running crazy with sick animals (praying and hoping all is well now), dental appts. w/ hubby, Dr.s' w/ Mom, and then there's the grooming.  Needless to say, I'm tickled to finally get to post my next card, and spend some time visiting my onlilne friends.

Napkin Fold Card
Like A Child

Still being so new to card crafting/designing, every card is a learning experience, and although I had to create this card twice, it still was a lot of fun....in the end...lol

I first seen the "Napkin Fold Card" on my good friend Wendy's blog, and you can go here to see her tutorials.  Thank you Wendy for sharing your knowledge.  The image by Mo Manning (called Urchin with Bird) - is colored with ProMarkers, and I just love the kindness Mo brings out in this adorable little girl's eyes.

Other art mediums used:

Papers by; Scrappin with Lil Ole Me - Christmas Overlays, Scrap N Sassy Designs - Pastel Frosting, dark blue, and white (distressed with Jim Holtz/Faded Jeans) Card Stock - Colorbok

Snowflakes and trim; "Starburst" punch by McGill, and Eyelet Lace border and corner punch is by Martha Stewart.  The glitter I used on the snowflakes came from my local thrift store - no idea the name.

Snowflake stick pin - I made with pearls, jewerly wire, and the center piece (believe it or not) is a bead cap that I flattened out - all from my mom's stash..now mine...snicker.

Ribbon - Blue "Let it Snow" from the dollar store (I love that place!), and the white from my stash.

Sentiment created in Paint Shop Pro

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day, and stopping by.

Pretty in Lavender

Hi Everybody,

Hope you all had a great week, and are ready for the weekend.  It's been a little crazy for me, as I've been taking mom to the dentist, my little dog (Opie) to the vet, or picking up supplies for one thing or the other.  Plus I've been working hard at learning to groom, so I too am glad to see the weekend here.

This card was inpired by a card by Wendy of lollydollycrafts.  You can see the card she created further down on the page on the link to her blog.  Wendy also has tutorials, and trust me when I tell you, just browsing her blog is worth the trip!

I stressed a bit over this card for a couple of reasons.  One, I so wanted to cut the paper similar to Wendy's card, but I don't have a cutting machine.  Two, the paper (not sure of the manufacturer) was part of a gift package, and I only had one copy and didn't want to mess it up. . . gulp!  I practiced a bit on some plain paper and simplified the cut a little, but I still was almost in a panic before I even got started.  Nevertheless, I managed to get through it....whew!

The stamp, by Saturated Canary, is called "Haley Harley", and was colored with Promarkers.  I made the leaves out of some ribbon, and made the stick pin just using a simple pearl.  The bows were made from ribbon and lace, and the beads and flowers are from my stash.  The rhinestones I got from good ole Walmart.

Now, I think my photographing is getting better (thanks to my dear sweet husband buying me a better camera), but the odd thing about this image is the pinkish flowers are not pink, they are a lavender/purple color.  I have no idea why I could not get the picture right, and may end up with a new photo upload, if I can get it figured out soon.

With all that said, thank you for taking time out of your day and stopping by.

Thank You Patti

Hi Everybody,

Hope all of you had a great weekend, and best wishes to all of you throughout the week.

This post is something I should have put up immediately upon notification, and the truth is I just wasn't thinking.  Chaulk it up to being a first maybe.

A very sweet lady, Patti, of Cherish Each Precious Day was having a blog candy contest last week.  I had learned about Patti through The Outlawz, and stopped by to say hi when I found out about the contest.  The prize was for a magazine called "CardMaker", featuring Christmas Reflections.  I had already been racking my brain for ideas, so I jumped at the chance to win and signed up.  Thinking I probably didn't win, I stopped by on the day of announcement to congratulate the winner, and low and behold I won!!

That all being said, this really is to thank Patti for having the contest.  If you get the chance, stop by her blog.  She's extremely talented, and a wonderful person to get to know.

Drummer Boy

Hi everybody.  Before mentioning my latest card, I want to send out thoughts and prayer to all of those that have been affected by the Hurricane Sandy.  We, here in Florida, can sure relate, so my heart goes out to all of you.

 Drummer Boy

Well this card is a first for me in a couple of ways.  It's my first Christmas card design, not only this year, but ever!...lol, and it's with my first purchased stamp.  I've admired Mo Manning's art for a long time, so it was exciting to get to work with one of her stamps.  This one is called "Shall I play for you", and was easy and a joy to color with my Promarkers.

I punched holes around the stamped and red paper, and hand stitched the zigzag with some embroidery thread from my stash.  I did a search for the music to "The Drummer Boy", and printed part of it out on some pale cream paper, added a darker shade behind it, and distressed the edges with my scissors.  Again, I didn't add a sentiment to this one, but that may change.

All the paper (except the white), and the embellishment came from my local thrift store.  Thanks so much for taking time out of your day, and stopping by.

Footnote: This is the 2nd upload I did of this card.  Being totally frustrated with how my photography is going, I did more research than I care to, and asked some "great" friends for some advice.  In the end, I found a free photography editing program that is pretty much upload and choose auto.  Please let me know what you think of the clarity on this image.  All critiquing and help is MUCH appreciated.
