Always Believe (Pop Up & Twist Butterfly Card)

Hey everybody,
Hope you all are having a super week.  I have a lot to tell you about this card, but I'll try to keep it as short as I can, although that never seems to work to good for me.

First and foremost, this is my first card as a DT member for Daydream Designs.  As a new member I got to pick some stamps, and for this card I chose a beautiful scripture (Matthew 28:20) from the "Dream Team Scripture Set 3" which you can find here.

The smaller flowers are from Daisy Doodle (called Floral Accents), and the larger flowers are from my past store Digi Doodle Shop.  A butterfly was required to do this pop up card (see tutorial here), but I couldn't find one that I felt would work.  Consequently, I just drew a simple design, and (of course) I used my ProMarkers.

Not only did I love this tutorial for the pop up and twist effect, but the colors were right up my alley.  I don't know what it is about blues and browns that I love so much, other than the fact that I must've been born in blue jeans and there was coffee in my bottle instead of milk..hmm go figure.

The papers are both from Colorbok, and the Believe on the front of the card was created in Paint shop Pro.  The ribbon was originally white, and I just colored it to match my card.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day, and stopping by.

Exciting News

As a fairly new card designer I had hoped, at some point down the road, that I'd be able apply and get to be part of a design team.  Never would I have guessed to be asked to join one, but that's exactly what has happened!

Diane, owner of Daydream Designs, asked me to join her dream team.  Needless to say, I couldn't be more excited and honored to be a part of this wonderful group, and have the opportunity to create with some of the adorable stamps in her store.

Thank you so much Diane!

Pop Up Birthday Card

Hey everybody,
Hope everyone is having a great week, and looking forward to the weekend.

As you look at my next card, you might be saying "Giddy Up", and "Yee Haw" do not go with a unicorn, and you'd be right.  But this card was made for one of my best friend's (Denise) granddaughter (Maria), and I have been invited to her birthday party this Saturday.  Denise knows I make greeting cards, and when I asked for a suggestion of what to make, this is what she told me.  Maria likes horses, but really likes unicorns, the words "yee haw", and "giddy up", and the color purple. So, that's just what she's getting.

In looking for inspiration, I ran across a couple of different videos on "birthday cake pop up cards".  I like to make as much of my cards as I can, so I opted to make my own pattern.  In doing so the top layer ended up being about 1/4" to big, so I decided to call it a "statue plaque"

The stamp "Proud Unicorn" is from Spesch Stamps, sentiments made in Paint shop pro, and colored with ProMarkers.  I did make a card box for it, just didn't include it in the photos.

Other mediums used:
Paper; solid purple shades are from Colorbok, and the horseshoe pattern and front card pattern was from a gift, so I don't know who makes it.
Cake sides: Ribbon from my stash, and colored
Unicorn decorations: Peel & Stick Glitter Foam, glitter dust from Creatology, pearl stickers from Michaels.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day and stopping by.

LIFE is good

Hey Everybody,

Hope you all are having a great week, and that "Life is good", as the sentiment reads in my next card.

This is another image from Digi Doodle Shop, and is one of my favorites that Mom created.  I did redraw her hair.  My eyes are so bad, and I couldn't see to color the skin in between the hair locks.  Other than that, she's still the same adorable little baby girl, and of course I colored her with my ProMarkers.

There are a few challenges out there for something new, so I opted to learn how to crochet around the image, and make some embellishments.  Below are links  to the tutorials, should you want to give any of them a try.  The leaves for the little flowers I kind of made up myself, but I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials for leaves.

Winners of my 100th follower give aways

Hey Everybody,

Before I announce the winners, I just want to once again thank all my followers for all the wonderful comments and words of encouragement. This was a small draw, as I actually only had 13 entries, and that's okay.  I wish I had had a more substantial give away, but I will be having giveaways periodically, and am already building for the next one.

Ok, so no more wasting time.  Nothing fancy on the drawing here.  Just made a list, and assigned everyone a number.

Congratulations to Susan for winning the USA package, and to Teresa (from Canada) for winning the $10.00 gift certificate.  Please contact me at judy2at@gmail.com to claim your prize.

Cherry Blossoms

Hey everybody,

Hope you all had a great weekend, and are ready for life to get back to normal after the holidays.

Cherry Blossoms

In creating this card, I was totally out of my comfort zone.  However I was determined, and finally completed something I was happy with.  The stamp is called Cherry Blossoms, and is a Digi Doodle Shop stamp - one of the first ones Mom created :)

I used my Promarkers, and the card itself was inspired by a couple of crafty gals; Renee of I brake for stamps created a gorgeous card with Dogwood blossoms (following her idea to duplicate some of the flowers to create a nice 3-D effect), and Kimberly of Just Wordz, has some fabulous video tutorials on using Promarkers, and her latest is (you guessed it) on flowers.

I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the frame with a border embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  For whatever reason (probably my expertise photography..lol), it's not showing up on the left side in this photo, but it is there.

Other mediums used:
Papers: by DCWV called Preppy Princess Stack, white from my stash
Embellishments: butterfly from my local thrift store, ribbon from my stash, and  sticky pearls from Michaels
Sentiment was created with Paint Shop Pro

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day and stopping by.
