Drummer Boy

Hi everybody.  Before mentioning my latest card, I want to send out thoughts and prayer to all of those that have been affected by the Hurricane Sandy.  We, here in Florida, can sure relate, so my heart goes out to all of you.

 Drummer Boy

Well this card is a first for me in a couple of ways.  It's my first Christmas card design, not only this year, but ever!...lol, and it's with my first purchased stamp.  I've admired Mo Manning's art for a long time, so it was exciting to get to work with one of her stamps.  This one is called "Shall I play for you", and was easy and a joy to color with my Promarkers.

I punched holes around the stamped and red paper, and hand stitched the zigzag with some embroidery thread from my stash.  I did a search for the music to "The Drummer Boy", and printed part of it out on some pale cream paper, added a darker shade behind it, and distressed the edges with my scissors.  Again, I didn't add a sentiment to this one, but that may change.

All the paper (except the white), and the embellishment came from my local thrift store.  Thanks so much for taking time out of your day, and stopping by.

Entered in the following challenges:

Mo's Challenge Blog - Anything Goes w/ Mo Image
CSAYL - Anything Goes
Allsorts - For Men Only
Sugar Creek Hollow - Cream + 2
Catch The Bug - Anything Goes
One Stop Craft - Colour

Footnote: This is the 2nd upload I did of this card.  Being totally frustrated with how my photography is going, I did more research than I care to, and asked some "great" friends for some advice.  In the end, I found a free photography editing program that is pretty much upload and choose auto.  Please let me know what you think of the clarity on this image.  All critiquing and help is MUCH appreciated.

Hi Judy! I found your blog through The Outlawz and am now your latest follower! I love, love, love your card! You've done a fabulous job with the coloring. I guess I'll be coming to you for 'photography' advice because I think your picture looks fantastic. I have a pretty decent camera but haven't quite got the hang of getting good pictures yet.

Judy, the coloring is gorgeous! I love your idea of the punched zig-zag border. I hope you don't mind if I borrow it. Mo's images are wonderful. I have so many, but don't get to use them very often.

So classic, from the image to your ribbon and paper choices. Thanks so much for playing along with us at CSAYL!
As for the clarity - I struggle too! Even with great software I find my pics are only good with natural light - unfortunately hard to find this time of year when I work all day :>( Your photo looks good though :>)
